Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

The Department of Biostatistics is growing and invites applicants to join our expanding team of talented faculty and staff. We are recruiting up to three full-time 12-month tenure-track faculty members at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. The Department is situated jointly within the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and the College of Medicine (COM), in the Clinical and Translational Research Building, facilitating multidisciplinary research. Faculty members pursue independent and collaborative research; they also teach in the MS and PhD in Biostatistics Programs and support a concentration in Biostatistics as part of the Masters of Public Health Program. They are advisors and mentors to a wide variety of students. Our current faculty members are leaders in artificial intelligence, big data analysis, cancer, genetics, infectious disease modeling and intervention studies, medical image processing, metabolomics data analysis, survival analysis, causal inference, statistical methods of health surveys, high-dimensional inference, longitudinal data analysis, and clinical trials. The Department works closely with the NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Institute and is home to the Children’s Oncology Group, the Center for Statistics and Quantitative Infectious Diseases and multiple NIH and other grants. The department is ranked No. 11 in biostatistics programs at public universities by U.S. News & World Report. And, in the “2024 Best Colleges in the U.S.” report, the Wall Street Journal named the University of Florida No. 1 public institution.

Faculty members pursue independent and collaborative research; they also teach in the MS and PhD in Biostatistics Programs and support a concentration in Biostatistics as part of the Masters of Public Health Program.  They are advisors and mentors to a wide variety of students.

The College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine are in the University’s Health Science Center, which also includes the Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, and Veterinary Health. The Health Science Center also partners with the immediately adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital, and Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and the UF Health Science Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville, FL. Additional major institutes and centers located at the University of Florida include the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Institute of Child Health Policy, the UF Health Cancer Center, the UF Genetics Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the McKnight Brain Institute, all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and access to large data sets for faculty collaboration.

 Salary is negotiable, commensurate with rank.

Doctoral degree in biostatistics or related quantitative discipline.

Exceptional candidates at all levels will be considered.  However, the department is especially interested in senior hires, for whom a record of academic accomplishments, scholarly recognition, external research support, and leadership responsibilities to warrant appointment at the level of professor or associate professor is essential.  For hires at the assistant professor level, potential to develop such a record should be demonstrated.
