Job Description:

The Marketing Assistant is a member of the Sales and Marketing Department of the State University System Press (University Press of Florida). This position focuses on marketing design, marketing content creation, book award submissions, and clerical departmental support as assigned. Experience with graphic design software, strong visual design instincts, and excellent organizational skills are essential.

 

Designing Marketing Materials for Print, Web, and Social Media

  • Designing advertisements for placement in conference programs, journals, magazines, and other print publications using Adobe InDesign
  • Designing catalogs, booklets, postcards, and other direct mail pieces using Adobe InDesign
  • Designing bookmarks, flyers, stickers, and promotional products for conferences, book fairs, website sales, and author use
  • Designing visual content for the Press website and other book retail websites using Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or other design tools
  • Designing visual content for use on the Press’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky) using Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or other design tools

Formatting e-Marketing and Blog Content

  • Creating email campaigns by populating email templates on an email marketing platform
  • Formatting marketing content as blog posts on WordPress

Submitting Books to Awards Programs 

  • Tracking book award deadlines, identifying appropriate books for awards, and submitting Press books to awards

Creating Video Content

  • Creating video content for use on the Press’s social media platforms

Performing Clerical Department Support

  • Performing other duties as assigned, which may include data entry or email correspondence with external contacts

 

Expected Salary:

$16.00 /hr

Required Qualifications:

Formal education should include a high school diploma. Skills include experience with Adobe InDesign and other graphic design software, strong instincts for visual design and aesthetics, excellent organizational skills, and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred:

Formal education should include a bachelor's degree, a minimum of one year of experience designing print and web materials in a workplace setting, and some experience working in the field of book publishing.
