Maintains and manages EH&S’ Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) known as Gator Tracs. Conducts queries for reports as directed by research services personnel or other stakeholders. Handles phone queries and email correspondence relating to the EH&S safety database. Provides general training on how to operate Gator Tracs. Work as needed with state and federal regulatory agencies and first responder representatives on matters related to Gator Tracs,
Prepares for and conducts inspections of university laboratories to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Completes duties associated with inspection performance including reviewing safety related information and records, scheduling visits, conducting site visits, administering survey questionnaires, visually inspecting laboratories (lab safety, biological, shops and IFAS), and evaluating various pieces of safety equipment. Requires interaction with principal investigators (PI), technicians, students, departmental administrators, and UF’s Facilities Services Division. Operate UF/state vehicle(s) to and from inspection sites
Conducts administrative duties in support of Research Services as assigned. Duties may include: auditing purchase orders, monitoring the Lab Safety inbox and answering general safety related questions, managing and tracking EH&S forms, updating reference materials, etc.
Manages and tracks the lab closeout reporting system. Includes distributing information to labs, following up on the status of lab closeouts, assigning inspectors for closeout inspections and updating EH&S databases as needed.
Valid Florida Driver's License is Required

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
- Monday through Friday, 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Must be able to work on-campus
- Occasional travel to offsite laboratories
- Occasional response to after-hours incidents

Preferred Qualifications: |
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Advanced degree in Safety, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Science or a related STEM field.
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of safety related experience or other related experience. KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of research laboratories
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Gator Tracs or Safety Stratus Lab Information Management Software
SKILLS:
Have resourceful and creative problem-solving skills from a customer service perspective.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work on-campus with occasional travel to off-site locations.
Ability to wear a tight-fitting respirator for emergency purposes.
