Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate level Help Desk Technician to join Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

Using strong communications and training skills coupled with specialized technical experience, a Help Desk Technician is vital in providing support for university enterprise systems, administrative services, academic systems, and other computing issues at the UFIT Help Desk. Incumbent will serve as a liaison to Campus IT and assist with training at the UFIT Help Desk.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
• Serves as a single point of contact between the UFIT Help Desk and campus IT
• Provides end-user support via phone, email, and support tickets
• Assists the UFIT Help Desk training coordinator on training new Help Desk employees
• Works weekly shifts in the UFIT call center

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status. These leave days may allow units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$22.03 – $23.00 / hour

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Prior call center experience
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Experience training IT employees
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position requires US work authorization.

This role will be based in one of our Gainesville offices and may include a hybrid schedule: three days in the office (Wednesday required) and two days remote.

A Criminal Background Screening is required.
