The Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and reputation of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. This position will be primarily responsible for creating engaging and informative written content for various platforms, including the department website, social media channels, newsletters, and magazines. The ideal candidate will have excellent marketing and communication skills and a curiosity about scientific and engineering fields.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation (45%) – Write and edit articles, social media posts, and website content to showcase the department’s research, people, and accomplishments. Translate complex scientific concepts into accessible, engaging content.
Content Management (30%) – Oversee content calendars, conduct interviews, and collaborate with stakeholders to gather impactful stories. Maintain and update the department’s website and social media channels.
Media Relations (10%) – Coordinate with the College to support media outreach, respond to inquiries, and build relationships with journalists and press outlets.
Stakeholder Engagement (10%) – Represent the department at events and build relationships with students, faculty, alumni, and external partners.
Event Support (5%) – Assist with event communications, promotional materials, and logistics, ensuring successful execution of department-hosted events and outreach efforts.
