Job Description:

Performs semi-skill and unskilled maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry/trade practices. Provides daily maintenance support to building users through responses to calls for service, scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and similar service. Performs tasks not limited to minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC repairs, changing filters, light bulbs, light carpentry tasks to include replacing ceiling tiles, patching and painting, flooring materials such as VCT, plank, and carpet tiles, stair treads, minor decorative maintenance and other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled or special work. Paint walls and/or equipment and make minor painting repairs.

Inspect all mechanical/electrical equipment in machine rooms, penthouses, and basements for proper operation. Operates and/or test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Assists in emergency repairs to pumps, motors, compressors, valves, plumbing pipes and fixtures, and all mechanical components.

Enter maintenance data via the work order system for work requests (WR) and time. Provide support services to other trades (e.g., properly route or phase WR) as may be required for the timely and efficient repair of buildings and/or equipment. Obtain parts from Centrals Stores for assigned WR. Clean and maintain shop, work areas, and personal equipment. With oversight, monitor inventory, research and order supplies and parts. Provide support service to other trades, as may be required for timely and efficient repair of buildings and/or equipment.

Read, interpret, and work from construction blueprints, renovation, and floor plan drawings. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents. Follow University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training.

Performs building refurbishing to include new ceilings, walls, doorways, masonry work, case work installation and carpentry work. Inspects electric door operators, elevators, and reports any malfunctions to work management.

Valid State of Florida Class E operator’s license required

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:

- 6:00 AM- 8:00 PM Fri-Sat, 6:00 AM- 7:30PM Sun

- Total hours per week: 40

- Emergencies as needed; swing shift, evening shift, weekends, after hours shift, on-call, etc., as required

Expected Salary:

$18.00-$19.80 Hourly

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in multiple trades.
