Job Description:

The Department of Occupational Therapy, College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida is seeking a part-time OPS Administrative Assistant to assist with our UF SmartDriver Rehab Program. This is a highly professional position requiring daily contact with the public, faculty, staff, university community and governmental agencies.

Specific duties are to provide administrative support for the UF SmartDriver Rehab Program to include:

  • Marketing – phone contacts with potential referral sources, setting up speaking engagements for driving specialist, providing marketing materials on request.
  • Client scheduling- receiving and filing referrals and medical records, obtaining preauthorization as needed, contacting clients, providing program information to prospective clients, collecting demographic information, scheduling appointments, and managing schedule.
  • Assisting clients and family members to complete intake paperwork, processing and sending out reports to appropriate parties.
  • Account receivables taking payments, making receipts and ensuring receipt of 3rd party payments.

Administrative support for the Department of Occupational Therapy may be assigned as needed. 

Expected Salary:

$16.00 - $17.50 hourly; commensurate based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area.

Experience in dealing with high volume workloads. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with customer service skills in sales and medical fields.

Familiarity with medical terminology.

Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to effectively manage interpersonal relationships with people with diverse personalities, backgrounds, and orientations.

This is a part-time position at 20-24 hours per week. Hours may be flexible within the week but are expected to happen between normal business hours of Tuesday-Thursday, 8 am-5 pm.
