The Opportunity and Job Description

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School (DRS) is seeking to hire a K-12 Fitness and Athletic Performance Coordinator for the 24-25 school year. Instructor responsibilities include: 

  • Family Outreach K-12

    • Support families with knowledge building in health and wellness 

  • K-7 Physical Education 

    • Collaborate on the design and implementation of the K-8 Physical Education/Training program at P.K. Yonge 

    • Daily teaching responsibilities in K-7 Physical Education 

  • Development of Fitness and Wellness 

    • Collaborate with district and school leaders including but not limited to the Athletic Director, Director of Secondary Program, School Principals, and Faculty leadership on the development of a Fitness and Wellness program focused on youth and adults in the P.K. Yonge Community 

  • K-12 Athletic Facilities

    • Short-term needs related to equipment and use of facilities including but not limited to weight rooms 

    • Long-term visioning, planning and coordination with stakeholders on new facilities for athletics at P.K. Yonge 

  • Strength Training and strength training programming w/ Student Athletes 

    • Develop programming for all student athletes

    • Collaborate with coaches and Athletic Director 

    • Attend games and practices, as needed

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education & experience.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. A Master’s degree; candidates with Bachelor’s degree will be considered, but will be required to obtain a Master’s degree within three years of hire.
  2. Florida teaching certification
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  4. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and effective strategies for motivating and teaching students with differing abilities from a variety of backgrounds
  5. FDLE Background check
Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of K-12 teaching experience
