Job Description: |
Meets with customers to determine their expectations regarding the project. Integrates design standards and special requirements into complete configurations. Follows the best practices for new building construction, major building renovation projects, and equipment replacement projects. Network segments include campus building local area networks (LANs) and campus wireless access. Supported network components including the outside plant (pathways, conduits, and cables), the inside plant (closets, wiring, and cross-connects), and network electronics equipment (switches and routers).
Conducts project meetings and communicates project status with customers, project team members (including UF Health Workstation Device Support (WDS), Telecom-Voice, and audiovisual (AV) departments), vendors, and management. Serves as a team lead, project manager, and technical resource for team members and customers. Communicates the network implementation project scope and schedule to end-users. Reports progress compared to plans and confirms project completion and customer satisfaction.
Communicates the customer’s project timeline and priority to project team members, vendors, and management. Documents the project scope, schedule, budget, deadlines, and deliverables. [10%] - Works with project team members to obtain approval and authorization for access to UF and UF Health computing resources as needed for the project. Coordinates with senior technical staff and IT specialty contractors. Meets with vendors to discuss customer expectations and explain UF and UF Health IT policies, procedures, and access to computing resources.

Preferred Qualifications: |
EDUCATION & TRAINING - Bachelor’s in technical area such as computer science, telecommunications, or related field - Industry recognized Project Management certification
EXPERIENCE: 10 years of work experience in network infrastructure design, installation, maintenance, and trouble-shooting
KNOWLEDGE - Knowledge of industry and university standards - Working knowledge of networking protocols (such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and ICMP) - Working knowledge of networking (such as switching and routing) - Thorough understanding of physical networking principles and their application - Advanced knowledge of physical network infrastructure and the components - Working knowledge of fiber-optic and copper cable certification tools
SKILLS - High-level project management skills - Advanced project management skills (including project supervision of technical staff) - Advanced project supervisory skills (leadership, team building, and conflict resolution) - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
ABILITIES - Demonstrated ability to determine effort level and time required to complete tasks - Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve objectives

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: BICSI’s RCDD, BICSI TPM, CISCO CCDA or Project Management Certifications (PMP) certifications
