Job Description:

The Marketing Specialist will serve the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy and support the marketing and digital communications efforts to drive strategic enrollment growth. The College of Pharmacy has educational, research and clinical/service missions and is an integral part of the UF Health academic health center and the UF campus.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of marketing and digital strategies and effectively support the development, implementation and execution of marketing plans to meet intended goals. Specific experience in marketing for higher education programs, especially healthcare, is highly desirable.

The Marketing Specialist will be expected to work extensively with the college’s professional, residential graduate and online education programs as well as the continuing pharmacy education program, to grow student recruitment and registration efforts. They will lead logistical coordination for marketing at conferences and trade shows, They will play a supporting role in digital advertising campaigns, project management, website content development, assist in social and digital media strategy and provide solutions to drive enrollment.

As a member of the College of Pharmacy Enrollment Marketing team the Marketing Specialist will work under the supervision of the Enrollment Marketing Manager and the Associate Dean for Entrepreneurial Programs to support the marketing needs of the college.

Conferences & Tradeshows

  • Coordinates conferences and trade shows, including adhering to program budget, securing booths and meeting deadlines for conference deliverables.
  • Oversees planning calendar of events; coordinates with program workforce to optimize lead generation at events.
  • Designs booth marketing materials and arranges shipping to and from the event.
  • Communicates with program workforce to staff booth; possible assistance as needed with travel to conferences.
  • Maintains inventory of brochures and promotional materials.

Social Media

  • Assists Marketing Specialist with implementation of the social media marketing plan, using the full marketing mix, to support the professional, graduate and online education programs, as well as the continuing pharmacy education program, with a clear focus on recruitment/conversion targets.
  • Assists in creating content for the college’s social media platforms on a regular basis, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to support recruitment and reputation-building efforts.

Graphic Design and Branding

  • Produces appropriate marketing tools, such as brochures, posters, direct mail, online and social advertisements, to influence prospective students and licensed pharmacists in their choice regarding where and what to study.
  • Ensures all visual content follows branding guidelines while being inventive and imaginative in developing original and creative products.
  • Supports development of multimedia assets for use in marketing campaigns, including video, graphic design and interactive web content.
  • Integrates and develops visual elements, such as line, space, mass, color and perspective, to produce desired effects such as the illustration of ideas, emotions, or moods.

Digital Marketing

  • Assists Marketing Specialist with planning and execution of digital campaigns, including search campaigns, pay-per-click, social media advertising and media placements.
  • Assists with creating, editing and disseminating marketing emails for leads, applicants and enrolled students.
  • Reports campaign performance, provides analysis of results and tracks return on investment for those efforts.

Research, Strategy and Planning

  • Participates in the development and implementation of the UF College of Pharmacy's marketing and student recruitment strategy, including competitive analysis, goals, objectives and tactics for fiscal year planning.
  • Offers ideas and strategies that bridge web, mobile, social and digital media, to provide solutions that achieve lead generation and enrollment goals.

Content Development

  • Assists in writing engaging and dynamic website content for academic units and student services with an emphasis on content for prospective and current students. Particular focus on web content that optimizes search engine results.
Assists in writing email content, ad copy, brochure copy for marketing to prospective students.
Expected Salary:

$20.00 - $23.95 hourly, based on education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an associates degree and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A B.S. or B.A. in marketing, advertising, design, communications or related field, and three years or more marketing or graphic design experience. Experience in higher education or student recruitment is strongly preferred.
  • Project management experience and writing background, with an ability to conceptualize, develop and produce content for a variety of communication channels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Superior spelling, punctuation and grammar skills. Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) Style preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments independently, with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and WordPress. Familiar with social and digital media marketing.
  • Agency and customer relationship management experience preferred.
  • Experience working with digital marketing automation and analytics software such as SalesForce Marketing Cloud and Pardot. 
  • Experience utilizing target demographics, metrics and other relevant data points to measure and improve marketing tactics.
  • Experience with social media advertising including Google Ads, Meta and LinkedIn
