The University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) Department of Oral Biology is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of expertise and productivity in areas that may include pathogen biology and host/pathogen interactions, cellular biology, inflammation and immunology, or cancer. The incumbent will work closely with College of Dentistry faculty and will be expected to establish collaborations with other Colleges, Institutes and Centers at the University. In addition to maintaining a robust research program, duties will include service activities as well as teaching, training, and mentoring DMD and PhD students; clinical assignments may also be available.
UFCD is one of the leading dental schools in the United States devoted to improving and promoting oral health throughout Florida, the nation and worldwide through excellence in teaching, research, patient care and service. UFCD is currently ranks fifth among all US dental schools based on NIH funding.
The Department of Oral Biology has a long history of engagement in cutting-edge oral health research. The Department is home to a large team of faculty, staff, students and post-doctoral fellows and is one of the top-ranked in the U.S. based on NIH research funding among similar departments. The Department includes national leaders in cell biology, oral cancer, oral infectious diseases, and immunology research. Members of the department collaborate extensively with investigators across the UF campus and other institutions, and part of active centers such as the well-established UF Health Cancer Center. An excellent research and training infrastructure provide an ideal environment to develop a well-established research program. A long-standing Comprehensive Training Program in Oral Biology (T90/R90) builds on decades of successful training of basic/clinical scientists.
