Student Laboratory Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
• Peptide Extraction: Assist in the extraction of peptides from plasma samples using established protocols.
• Sample Preparation: Prepare and process biological samples for extraction, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
• Equipment Operation: Operate laboratory instruments used in peptide extraction, such as centrifuges, pipettes, and filter systems.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Assist with the collection of experimental data, maintaining accurate records of results, and performing basic data analysis.
• Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, including proper disposal of waste and ensuring all reagents and equipment are stocked.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

$15.00 - $16.00 an hour

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Basic laboratory experience (e.g., pipetting, sample handling, equipment use) is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols and procedures.
• Good organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate, comprehensive lab notebooks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Familiarity with laboratory software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, GraphPad) for data analysis.
• Experience with protein analysis or chromatography techniques is a plus.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing laboratory needs.
