The laboratories support the public through the Livestock Waste Testing (LWTL) and Extension Soil Testing (ESTL) Labs, and UF research through the Analytical Research (ARL) and Environmental Water Quality (EWQL) Labs. Key responsibilities include overseeing operations in all four labs, supervising and training laboratory staff, ensuring data integrity, providing exceptional customer service, and managing sample receiving, sorting, preparation, analysis, and disposal. Additional duties involve managing hazardous waste inventory and transfer, coordinating laboratory safety procedures, troubleshooting analytical instruments and other equipment, updating Standard Operating Procedures as needed, and planning and coordinating maintenance for all analytical instruments. Given the EWQL's NELAP certification, the role also ensures NELAP compliance and prepares all four labs for the annual EH&S audits. |
