The scientist will be responsible for the conducting and coordinating studies related to cellular and molecular biology within the Orthopedic Biomedical Engineering Laboratory. This scientist is also expected to work collaboratively with other faculty that maintain active collaborations with the Orthopedic Biomedical Engineering Laboratory. These collaborations will be focused on understanding the efficacy of emerging therapies for osteoarthritis.
The primary role would be to assist with the processing of -omics based assays, including the preparation of samples for mass spectrometry and the analysis of mass spectrometry data. Other responsibilities include facilitating histological and molecular biology assays, including but not limited to immunostaining, ELISAs, PCR, flow cytometry, and HPLC. Experience in animal care and surgery is also necessary within this position.
The Biological Scientist will also be responsible for coordinating and conducting research experiments focused on identifying biomarkers of osteoarthritis and osteoarthritic pain. This position will also evaluate the effectiveness of emerging therapies for osteoarthritis. Within these studies, this person will be responsible for data management, presenting data at regular meetings, routine lab maintenance, coordinating IACUC and IRB protocols, and most importantly, working in a highly collaborative environment.
