The Department of Media Production, Management, Technology (MPMT) at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications invites applications for a lecturer position with a focus on media management.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

The Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT) at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications is seeking applications for a non-tenured Lecturer position focusing on Media Management, starting in August 2026. The candidate’s primary role will be to develop and teach media management classes (e.g., content strategy and distribution, media entrepreneurship, product management for media companies, audience and brand analysis) and to bring industry expertise directly into the classroom. The position emphasizes the strategic, organizational, and economic dimensions of media. The successful candidate will be the lead instructor for the program’s capstone course, RTV4800 Media Management and Strategy, and will contribute to updating the department's curriculum, particularly in the Media Management and Technology track. Preference will be given to candidates who can emphasize the development and/or distribution of entertainment media, including but not limited to film, music, television, and related media industries.

Primary responsibilities include:

·  Teaching and/or developing at least three courses a semester in the Media Management and Technology track of the department.

·  Mentoring MPMT students, assisting in their academic and professional growth.

·  Completing service tasks, including participating in faculty meetings and discussions about curriculum changes targeted toward MPMT students about navigating the job market/workplace.

About the Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology

The Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology is one of the premier programs in offering courses related to mass media and emerging media. Our curriculum prepares students for careers in the media industry through two specializations: Digital Film and Video Production and Media Management and Technology. The department has about 500 student majors and 16 full-time faculty. Students from the department pursue careers in film production, TV program production, social media management, brand management, consumer analysis, UI/UX design, and digital marketing, among others.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience and education

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of industry experience is required.
Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline

Preferred Qualifications:
  •  Master’s degree or higher
  •  Relevant teaching and/or mentoring experience
  •  Entertainment industry experience
