The University of Florida is looking for an Accountant II to provide specialized accounting, financial oversight, and budget coordination within the Division of Enrollment Management. In this role, you will support federal, state, and institutional financial aid fund management, administer accounting processes, and assist with budget planning for multiple units across the Division.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Accounting Functions
- Coordinate the tracking of financial aid funds from federal, state, and institutional aid programs administered by Student Financial Aid & Scholarships.
- Ensure adequate cash management practices and monitor funding to prevent over or under-utilization.
- Ensure compliance with program matching requirements and other mandates.
- Complete federal, state, and institutional reporting requirements.
- Administer accounting systems for the division and develop new procedures or revise existing ones to maintain department accounting records.
- Formulate policies related to internal auditing and maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers.
- Coordinate reconciliation activities and review, analyze, and reconcile financial records, including state and cash-based funds, monthly.
- Review expenditures, balances, and transactional detail, and complete routine and ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Monitor and review all processes with the Finance team and initiate modifications as appropriate.
Budget Management
- Maintain financial records for departments in the division, providing periodic reports and advising on budgetary needs.
- Assist with researching, forecasting, entering, and justifying operating budget requests.
- Assist with managing budget functions, including uploading budget information in university systems, ensuring accounts are balanced, and advising unit management on fund status.
- Provide data and analyses on budget issues as needed.
Cross-Training and Team Support
- Cross-train in all functional areas managed and supported by the Finance team.
- Assist or provide coverage for team members during high volume or absence periods.
- Maintain effective business relationships with division, college, and university core offices.
- Act as a liaison with Contracts & Grants and General Accounting.
- Attend college and university meetings to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Recommend policies regarding accounting functions and stay abreast of regulatory, compliance, and process changes.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

| Expected Salary: |
$65,000 annually

| Preferred: |
- Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and university regulations pertaining to accounting and fiscal management
- Ability to prepare, present, coordinate, and monitor all federal, state, and university funding received by the Division
- Ability to design and implement accounting systems as well as analyze and interpret data
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrated expertise relevant to the use of computers and appropriate software
- Knowledge of fiscal accounting functions and processes
- Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to handle the pressures of a high-volume, multi-faceted job assignment where excellent customer service, attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness are critical
