Project Management and Strategic Planning – Outlines all projects related to biobanks and ensures tasks are done in a timely manner and within budget.
Supervisory – Supervising lower managers, employees, and undergraduate students within multiple cores of the UFDI STEPS program.
Administrative – Scheduling and leading meetings, interfacing with UF admin, and coordinating efforts with other leadership within the UFDI STEPS program
Employee relations/HR – Coordinates hiring for all cores of the STEPS program and UFDI Biobank
Training – Responsible for ensuring correct and precise training for all members of the screening core, this includes overseeing compliance with all regulatory and UF-required trainings, and developing materials to train staff in all core processes
Database administration – Works directly with UFDI STEPS data management staff to develop and maintain informational and screening result databases with significant emphasis on QA/QC procedures and maintenance of FAIR principles for data storage and dissemination
Laboratory management – Integrates procedures and develops SOPs for unique and cutting-edge research and screening initiatives as they arise. This includes developing workflows for any newly acquired instrumentation platforms.
Computational – Oversee the development of websites, databases, electronic consenting applications, data analysis, and data presentation/visualization platforms for all screening efforts.
Budget oversight – Maintain budgets for all screening operations across all cores. Interface with departmental and college fiscal and grant administration to ensure proper and efficient utilization of funds. Prepares reports.
Experimental development – Work with academic principal investigators and other researchers to integrate modern techniques from the fields of T1D research and clinical care to abide by current standards and ensure synergy with the greater scientific community.
Regulatory compliance – Institute and maintain IRB protocols for biobanking human specimens on a large scale, and integrate HIPAA guidelines to ensure compliance and patient security. Interface directly with UF Environmental Health & Safetry (EH&S) to institute laboratory safety and bioproject protocols.
