Job Description:

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor to join our expanding inpatient psychiatry team. This position is part of a larger initiative supporting the growth of psychiatric and behavioral health services within UF Health and enhancing access to high‑quality mental health care for our community.

The successful candidate will provide direct psychiatric care to patients admitted to UF Health’s inpatient psychiatric units. This role includes responsibility for conducting psychiatric evaluations, managing complex psychiatric and comorbid medical conditions, coordinating multidisciplinary treatment plans, and ensuring delivery of evidence‑based inpatient psychiatric services. Intensive outpatient, partial hospital, or outpatient services may also be a part of the role, depending on the candidate’s interest and expertise.

This faculty role also plays a key part in the department’s educational mission, providing clinical supervision, mentorship, and teaching to psychiatry residents, fellows, medical students, and other trainees. The position is critical in increasing workforce capacity and strengthening the training pipeline for future clinicians. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Manage complex psychiatric and behavioral health cases, including crisis stabilization.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary treatment planning and daily rounds.
  • Supervise and teach psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees.
  • Ensure timely access to evidence-based care and support compliance with all regulatory, documentation, and quality benchmarks.
  • Engage in quality‑improvement activities and support departmental initiatives aligned with the SB330 expansion.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation as assigned.
Expected Salary:

$250k - 300k; Commensurate with experience

Required Qualifications:
  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Completion of an ACGME‑accredited psychiatry residency training program.
  • Board eligibility or board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Florida.
  • Experience in inpatient psychiatry or consultation‑liaison psychiatry.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and clinical supervision.
Preferred:
  • Additional fellowship training (e.g., C‑L Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry).
  • Experience working within an academic medical center.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team‑based care skills.
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary inpatient psychiatric care and quality improvement.
