Job Description:

Essential Functions

· Serve as an expert on campus life and student engagement; Provide students, organizations and the UF community with resources, services and information about the Division of Student Life, and the Department of Student Engagement

· Promote and facilitate Involvement Consultations with incoming and current students on a scheduled and drop in basis during set office hours; includes providing detailed action plans for students personalized with involvement suggestions.

· Provide event and student check-in support during departmental events across all Student Engagement offices.

· Support the front desk and Student Engagement staff with designated projects as department representatives. Includes but not limited to:

o Monitor space access through a formal check in process

o Portal operations and administrative responsibilities including responding to emails, Teams messages and phone calls

o Contribute to the re-registration process by editing GatorConnect profiles

o Greet and communicate with students in the portal.

o Answer and respond to formal and informal questions

· Plan, organize and execute departmental events and initiatives that include but are not limited to Involvement Awards, Student Organizations Fairs, Preview Student Engagement Fairs, Space Allocations and other duties assigned

· Develop unique initiatives, events, and services to support and encourage student involvement and promote student organizations through tabling, organization fairs, conferences, workshops, events, presentations and online materials

· Assist in managing, updating and navigating GatorConnect, departmental emails, forms, and other items upon request

· Connect and build relationships with student organizations & advisors communicating with them on a regular basis to learn about events and invites to share with students

· Assist with the assessment and evaluation of departmental resources, services and events performed.

· Other duties as assigned

Expected Salary:

$16/hr

Required Qualifications:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS).  Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Current University of Florida student in good standing with a GPA of at least 2.0 grade point average. 

Preferred:

Experience with event planning/management and crisis response.

Public speaking and interpersonal skills to facilitate group discussions and presentations, and collaborate with community/campus partners.

Demonstrate previous experience with customer service or hospitality.

Strong organizational and administrative skills such as management of schedules, form completion, organization of records and collecting reports.

Ability to assess and respond to the general needs of students, campus partners, faculty and staff and others during events or office hours.

Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn more about engagement and student organizations on campus and in the community.

Desire to contribute to the marketing needs of Student Engagement through graphic creation and sharing.

Be reliable, responsible, confident, and flexible; demonstrates the ability to initiate and activate when called upon to lead and serve.

A commitment to assessment and a desire to collect and organize feedback related to events, initiatives and services offered by Student Engagement.

Display a willingness to help others and enjoy working with people and various backgrounds and viewpoints Able to begin work March 2026 and commit to Summer and Fall 2026 at minimum.

Previous engagement on campus with student organizations/University units at UF is preferred Strong verbal and written communications.

Serve as a role model for all other undergraduate & graduate students at the University of Florida.

Demonstrates consistent respect for peers, faculty, staff and community members and maintains a positive attitude at all times.

Required to attend ALL staff meetings/trainings.
