UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate level Systems Database Administrator IV to join Infrastructure and Communication Technologies (ICT), a unit within UFIT.
Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT) is a division of UF Information Technology that manages the UF Data Center and delivers hosted server, storage, virtualization, database, email, and related systems, in addition to connecting the University of Florida campuses to the world via high-speed data, video, Wi-Fi, telecommunications, and VoIP services. The Database Platform team is responsible for the architecture, engineering, and administration of UFIT’s core database infrastructure. They design, build, and maintain critical database services, such as PostgreSQL, MysSQL, MSSQL, and etc.
Join our team to support the design, security, and automation of our enterprise database ecosystem. You will work alongside senior administrators to manage the full lifecycle of database software (Oracle, SQL Server, Open Source) on Linux and Windows. This role relies heavily on Ansible automation to maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and consistent patching standards.
- Note: This role is strictly infrastructure-focused. It does not involve application-level SQL development, query rewriting, or logical data modeling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Lifecycle: Install, configure, and patch RDBMS binaries (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres, Yugabyte) across the enterprise.
- Automation: Maintain and execute Ansible playbooks for automated patching, configuration management, and reducing manual toil.
- Reliability (HA/DR): Support high-availability clusters and participate in regular Disaster Recovery testing and backup validation.
- Infrastructure Design: Assist the team with requirement gathering, vendor analysis, and Proof-of-Concept (POC) testing for new solutions.
- Operational Support: Participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rotation and troubleshoot connectivity or performance issues.

- Database Platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, YugabyteDB.
- OS: RHEL (Linux), Windows Server.
- Automation & Tools: Ansible (Required), Git, Shell/PowerShell.
- HA/DR Technologies: Oracle Data Guard, SQL Always On, Clustering.
- Monitoring: OEM, Grafana, or similar agents.
