The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all 16 colleges of the University of Florida, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.
As a Health Communication Intern at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of social media strategies that amplify our research, education, and community engagement efforts.
In your new role you will be responsible for the following:
- Collaborate with the COE leadership team to develop and execute a strategic social media plan across platforms such as X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
- Create engaging, brand-aligned content highlighting COE research, educational initiatives, faculty achievements, and community impact.
- Support ongoing efforts to increase audience engagement and visibility through analytics tracking, posting schedules, and content calendars.
- Work closely with the UF Health Cancer Institute Communications team to ensure all content aligns with UF Health brand standards and institutional messaging.
- Assist in brainstorming and developing creative campaigns, visuals, and multimedia content.
- Contribute to additional communication and outreach projects as needed.
This is an intern-level position, ideal for candidates pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field who is looking to gain hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, and digital storytelling within a professional higher education and healthcare environment. | Expected Salary: |
$15.00 hourly

| Minimum Requirements: |
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
- Availability for a commitment of to up to 20 hours per week.
- Successful pre-employment screening including a background check.

| Preferred Qualifications: |
Knowledge/Experience:
- Current undergraduate student majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of social media strategy, content creation, and audience engagement.
- Familiarity with health communication, cancer prevention, or public health topics preferred.
Qualities:
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to tone, clarity, and accuracy.
- Creative, detail-oriented, and proactive in developing ideas and producing content.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn within a professional academic and healthcare setting.
Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in creating digital content for platforms such as X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
- Experience with design and content tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or similar platforms.
- Ability to track engagement metrics and assist in maintaining posting schedules and content calendars.
- Skilled in developing visuals, short videos, and multimedia content aligned with brand standards.
