The Department of Epidemiology is seeking a part-time OPS Data Science Assistant. This position will be responsible for working with data from the National Drug Early Warning System (NDEWS) project. They will create data visualizations and dashboards for display on the NDEWS website and Weekly Briefings. Position will work closely with the Data Management Analyst III for NDEWS on 911-dispatch data from biospatial.io, to craft maps and data visualizations to publish. The Data Science Assistant will also use Tableau to create interactive dashboards for the NDEWS website. This position will also use advanced data management skills, including SAS and R, to work with and clean large datasets.

Graduate degree in an appropriate area.
Experience in the following areas: data management skills, including SAS and R, to work with and clean large datasets. Possess strong interpersonal skills to enthusiastically, independently, and confidently engage patients and their caregivers in person and via phone to screen, recruit, consent, train, and support data collection, in the context of their clinical episode. The desired candidate should also be confident to effectively build rapport with clinical staff. Other ideal qualifications would include: a team-player, someone who is adaptable to a chaotic clinic environment that is fast-paced, organizational skills needed to track adherence to study protocols, patient adherence, gift card payments, logging recruitment, screening, and data collection information, and a positive demeanor.

This is a part-time position with an expectation of work up to 20 hours per week. Hours may be flexible within the week but are expected to happen between normal business hours of M-F, 8am-5pm.
