Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated, part-time Agentic AI Platform Intern to join the Infrastructure and Communication Technology, a unit within UFIT for 2026 (Spring, Summer and Fall 2026 semesters). This paid internship is designed to provide students currently enrolled in college with an opportunity to learn practical skills and gain experience to propel them into a successful career in Information Technology.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

This internship is within the Artificial Intelligence & Platform Engineering (AIPE) team which is tasked with providing enterprise artificial intelligence capabilities and building platforms while ensuring high availability and reliability of campus services. Competitive candidates will have a strong understanding of GenAI concepts, agentic AI frameworks, and prompt optimization techniques. You'll work closely with our team to build AI agents and ensure they are effective while maintaining accuracy and performance. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in artificial intelligence while contributing to meaningful projects such as NaviGator AI.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Identify and prioritize manual tasks within the UF enterprise ecosystem suitable for automation.
  • Build and test AI agents to improve our constituents experience when interacting with various aspects of campus life.
  • Contribute to the main NaviGator AI Prompt Library to provide campus with effective and powerful prompts for their use cases.
  • Work with constituents to fine-tune AI responses for relevance and accuracy using their own datasets.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of implementation agentic workflows to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Some key learning outcomes for the student intern are:

  • Develop skills in architecting agentic AI workflows that can positively impact existing business process for various campus use cases.
  • Apply prompt optimization techniques to craft reusable, domain-specific, effective prompts and contribute to the NaviGator AI prompt library.
  • Design and execute rigorous test plans for agentic workflows, including unit/integration tests, adversarial cases, and regression tests.
  • Gain hands-on experience with various AI tools and platforms while onboarding constituents to various services under the NaviGator AI suite.

Expected Salary:

$15.00 per hour

Required Qualifications:

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Familiarity with leading Generative AI models such as Llama, GPT, Claude, and Gemini
  • Understanding of the underlying principles and techniques for natural language processing, text generation, and prompt engineering
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python
  • Experience using services such as NaviGator Chat and NaviGator Toolkit
  • Experience designing Agentic AI workflows using n8n, Zapier, Langflow, or AgentKit
  • Experience developing and deploying AI-powered applications is a plus
