The College of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, Research Assistant Scientist. The University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) is one of the leading dental schools in the United States devoted to improving and promoting oral health throughout Florida, the nation and worldwide through excellence in teaching, research, patient care and service.
The Cha lab is looking for a Research Assistant Scientist interested in studying conduct research in the area of molecular biology and immunology of autoimmune Sjogren’s disease (SjD). The focus of research in the Cha lab involves extracellular and intracellular triggers for innate immune cell activation and glandular inflammation in SjD. More specifically, the roles of nucleic acid receptors and cytosolic RNA/DNA sensors in cytokine secretion and peripheral/tissue Treg regulation will be examined. In addition, investigating the efficacy of anti-purinergic receptor therapy in vivo is also in progress.
Minimum requirements include Ph.D. (or an equivalent degree) in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, or in any related field. The candidate is expected to demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in cell/molecular biology and/or immunology. Experience with cloning would be desirable although not required.
