Classification Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Description:

Systems Administration/Management of all Departmental IT services, including software upgrades, licensing, and performance and security monitoring.

Global, site-wide management of Departmental faculty, staff and student networked workstations, including automated software deployment, upgrades, and inventory control. 

Development of unique and goal-optimized hardware and software solutions specific to the needs of the Chemistry Department. 

Maintain and upgrade documentation of all daily and long-term Departmental IT procedures and operations including job ticketing and user training.

Design and planning of hardware and software upgrades to Departmental core IT infrastructure. 

Maintain knowledge of current state-of-the-art in IT technology and security.

Other IT-related tasks at the direction of the team supervisor.

Expected Salary:

The salary is $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

Experience in the management of complex infrastructure and/or platforms including infrastructure monitoring and observability tools.    

Supporting end users in complex technical environments.  

Experience in the design and implementation of data pipelines and system integrations. 

Experience in mixed operating system environments, including Linux/Unix, OSX, Windows, iOS, and Android.

Possess a solid understanding of networking, identity management, authentication protocols, and security best practices. 

Familiarity with virtualization and containerization platforms.  

Strong scripting and automation skills using contemporary languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, bash, PowerShell, or similar).   

Familiarity with academic systems and technologies (e.g., learning management systems, data warehouses, institutional reporting tools).    

Experience with identity federation and directory services integration (e.g., SSO, SAML, LDAP).
