The Academic Advisor II serves a vital role within the College of Nursing’s Office of Student Services, supporting students throughout their academic journey. This position provides comprehensive advising to nursing students, ensuring they receive accurate guidance on academic planning, university policies, and program requirements. The advisor maintains and monitors student records, responds to inquiries in compliance with institutional regulations, and fosters student success through proactive support. Additionally, the role contributes to recruitment and admissions efforts by engaging with prospective students and assisting with onboarding processes. The ideal candidate is student-focused, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting academic excellence in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Academic Advising, Admissions, and Student Success
- Advise Nursing students on curriculum planning, registration, and degree requirements; maintain records and rosters to support progression and clinical placements.
- Support recruitment and admissions through prospective student communication, event representation, and collaboration with Admissions, Recruiting, and Student Support teams.
- Collaborate with the ADAAs on curriculum development, ensure compliance with policies, and contribute to student success initiatives.
- Monitor student performance, manage GPA audits and academic standing reviews, and refer at-risk students to appropriate support services.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners on retention and student success programs, including workshops on study skills, time management, and career readiness.
- Generate data and reports to evaluate academic progression and enhance the student experience.
Student Initiatives
-Support orientation and onboarding efforts for new Nursing students, collaborating with the OSS team to ensure smooth processes.
-Manage advising communications, digital resources, and support coordination of academic ceremonies and recognition events.
-Contribute to the evaluation and enhancement of advising practices and student success programs, staying current on best practices in retention and engagement.
Interdisciplinary and Program Coordination
- Serve as the advising representative for interdisciplinary programs within the College of Nursing.
- Maintain and update student and program data across databases, ensuring records are accurate and current for CON leadership.
- Represent the College at meetings, recruitment events, and conferences, providing advising insights and promoting nursing programs.
