The Office of Academic Support (OAS) for Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) at the University of Florida is seeking a Math Instructor to teach Basic College Algebra (MAC1105) during the Spring 2026 semester. This is a part-time, term-limited position with potential for renewal based on departmental needs and available funding.
Position Overview
The course is reserved for UF PROMISE Scholars, a specialized cohort of students participating in academic enrichment and student success programming through OAS. Fostering an ethical and professional learning environment for all class participants.
In coordination with the UF Department of Mathematics, the instructor will deliver live lectures in Basic College Algebra (MAC 1105) over the 16-week spring term, beginning January 2026. Course topics includes real and complex numbers, solving equations, graphing functions, and exploring exponential and logarithmic functions.
Instruction will follow the established curriculum used in other non-PROMISE sections of MAC 1105. Accordingly, the instructor will collaborate with the MAC 1105 course coordinator within the UF Math Department.
All instructors are expected to adhere to departmental policies regarding class meetings, office hours, assignments, and grading. Beyond subject knowledge, instructors are entrusted with fostering an ethical and professional learning environment that supports student success.
This mastery-based course requires students to attend a math lab scheduled one hour per week for supplemental instruction and individualized support. Two sections are currently scheduled with labs. Ideally, the instructor will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays (9 a.m.–12:35 p.m.) and Fridays (9 a.m.–11:30 a.m.) throughout the semester.
