Job Description:

The Manager of Operations supports the Executive Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives in overseeing facilities operations for the College of Nursing across all locations, including the main campus, Jacksonville, and the Archer Clinical Practice. This role is responsible for the effective use, maintenance, and stewardship of college facilities.
Key responsibilities include prioritizing and managing facilities projects, developing project scopes, coordinating design and construction efforts, and overseeing warranty and close-out processes. The Manager also ensures ongoing maintenance coordination, recommends contract approvals, and upholds compliance with university standards, safety regulations, and operational best practices.

Facilities Planning, Operations & Maintenance Oversight
• Manages day-to-day facilities operations, including building systems, space use, and routine maintenance for all college-owned and leased spaces.
• Oversees preventive maintenance programs, energy usage, and service contracts.
• Ensures safe, accessible, and operationally efficient facilities across all sites.
• Fleet vehicle services, including planning the transport and transfer of materials.

Capital Projects and Deferred Maintenance Management
• Identifies, prioritizes, and scopes facilities improvement and capital renewal projects based on deferred maintenance, safety, and programmatic needs.
• Coordinates with university planning, design, and construction teams throughout project life cycles, from construction to design and close-out.
• Monitors project timelines, budgets, and outcomes and provides recommendations on contract approvals.

Stakeholder Communication and Facilities Support Services
• Serves as the primary liaison between the College and central university facilities units, vendors, and external partners.
• Coordinates facilities-related services for events, relocations, and academic program needs.
• Responds to urgent facility issues and ensures clear communication with affected stakeholders.


Strategic Planning and Property Development
• Assists with developing long-term facilities strategically aligned with the College’s mission and growth plans.
• Analyzes operational performance data and recommends improvement to policies, standards, and procedures.
• Supports sustainability initiatives and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Expected Salary:

$65,000-$75,000

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
  • Advanced degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or similar professional certification (e.g., PMP, LEED AP, OSHA).
    • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in facilities operations within a large, complex organization—preferably in higher education or healthcare.
    • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, budget management, and capital project oversight.
    • Strong knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations, building codes, and sustainability practices.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and drive operational efficiency.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and customer service.
    • Experience implementing preventive maintenance programs and emergency preparedness plans.
