Job Description:

The UF College of Nursing seeks a Project Manager II to support our Elevate 2029 strategic plan to Care, Lead, and Inspire - Boldly which is designed to enhance the college's ability to advance nursing, produce caring and well-prepared nurse leaders, and find innovative solutions for the field. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will manage projects that support the college's vision to be a global catalyst for nursing excellence and transformative health innovation. You'll coordinate initiatives across the Gator Nurse community, working with faculty, staff, and partners to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities include:

Strategic Project Leadership

  • Design and lead comprehensive project strategies from initiation through closure, incorporating project charters, scopes, timelines, KPIs, and risk mitigation frameworks.
  • Facilitate alignment between project outcomes and institutional priorities, ensuring resources are optimally allocated and performance is tracked through clear, outcome-based metrics.
  • Lead high-level project briefings and governance meetings with College, UF Health, and University leadership to ensure transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making.
  • Direct cross-functional teams, ensuring clear accountability, proactive issue resolution, and disciplined change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish and refine project management standards, toolkits, and workflows to optimize scalability and repeatability of successful practices.

High-Impact Event & Conference Execution

  • Independently lead the end-to-end planning and execution of large-scale, high-visibility College events (e.g., symposiums, conferences, leadership retreats), ensuring alignment with institutional brand and stakeholder expectations.
  • Oversee complex event logistics, vendor procurement, and budget oversight in partnership with Finance and Events leadership.
  • Coordinate communications and media engagement strategies in collaboration with the College’s marketing team to drive attendance and visibility.
  • Ensure all event activities are evaluated post-implementation to drive process improvement and strategic refinement.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Engagement

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration, engagement, and project adoption.
  • Act as a liaison between leadership, faculty, staff, and community partners to ensure priorities are synchronized and information flows seamlessly across all levels.
  • Lead feedback and retrospective sessions to capture institutional knowledge and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with University, College, and sponsor policies and regulations across all initiatives.
  • Produce high-quality executive reports, outcome dashboards, and post-project reviews that inform strategic planning and future resource allocation.
  • Serve as a thought partner in the refinement of project management methodologies and College operational frameworks.
Expected Salary:

$70,000 - $80,000 annually

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Demonstrated success managing cross-functional initiatives and delivering results in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Proven experience in event and conference planning, preferably within higher education, healthcare, or public-sector contexts.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana) and standard software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Prior experience in academic, research, or health system settings, with strong familiarity in nursing education or healthcare operations.
  • Working knowledge of UF procurement, contracting, and financial tracking systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with strategic vision, influence without authority, and manage complexity at scale.
