Job Description:

We are seeking a full-time Community Intervention Research Coordinator (CIRC) to join our Health Disparities and Health Promotion (HDHP) Research Team. This is an OPS position. The CIRC reports directly to the Principal Investigator and Team Director, Dr. Carolyn M. Tucker, and is supervised by the Research Manager for the HDHP Research Team, Ms. Rui Zou. The CIRC will work collaboratively with research team members to co-lead community-based participatory intervention research projects.

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday and occasionally evenings and weekends, totaling 40 hours per week
  • Work Location: In-office and at community sites (e.g., churches that are members of the UF Health Cancer Center Community-Partnered Cancer Disparities Research Collaborative, which is directed by Dr. Carolyn Tucker)
  1. Communication:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Community Program Manager, Ms. Miles Hamilton and the core members of HDHP Research Team
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Community Advisory Board Co-Chairs and the HDHP Research Team
  • Serve as a liaison for retrieval of non-REDCap data
  • Attend and occasionally chair meetings of the HDHP Research Team
  • Help build and maintain positive relationships among the HDHP Research Team Members and community partners
  • Communicate regularly with community members and the Community Program Manager via phone, text, email, and occasional in-person visits to ensure understanding of research activities/projects
  1. Program Leadership:
  • Coordinate program logistics for Power Over Cancer Gatherings and other interventions
  • Assume major roles in participant recruitment, enrollment, and data collection
  • Oversee coaching sessions with interns
  • Identify and improve logistical processes related to CDRC activities
  • Organize and co-facilitate focus groups for research studies
  1. General Duties:
  • Assist with and coordinate research project activities as needed
  • Prepare and edit research documents, ensuring they are accurate, up to date, and professionally presented
  • Provide support for processing research participant payments
  • Co-manage UF GO travel arrangements related to research activities, while abiding by university policies
  1. Training and Mentoring Leadership:
  • Conduct or oversee trainings for Mental Health Coaches, Community Scientists, Technology Access Specialists, and new employees
  • Conduct trainings and provide mentorship for research interns
  1. UF Institutional Review Board (IRB) Responsibilities:
  • Respond to requests from the UF IRB
  • Co-lead the creation of research documents for new studies that require IRB approval

 

Expected Salary:

$17 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and individually in diverse teams
  • Commitment to reducing health disparities, especially in low-income, Black, rural and other disadvantaged communities
  • Experience in community-based participatory research, or a strong desire to learn how to conduct such research
  • Ability to train individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in professional interactions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
