Job Description: |
Student engagement: Serves as a career coach to advance career and professional development for specific populations. Advances the Career Connections Center’s student engagement plan to support the needs of the diverse student body. Designs and delivers customized programming, services and resources to educate and inform students about industry and academic career options associated with majors in the college. Provides individual career planning appointments for students within the specified college and others based on need and demand. Advises and coaches students individually or in groups regarding various work and experiential learning opportunities, networking and mentoring; Career Connections Center resources and services; and job search strategies. Helps prepare students for post-graduation success through professional and employ ability skill development. Infuses globalization and intercultural competencies into career education and experiences. Develops marketing materials or customizes existing Career Connections Center materials for specific populations in the college.
Industry engagement: Serves as a recruitment coach by identifying and developing relationships with employers in specified industries with a goal to increase their recruitment activity, participation in programs and events and overall employment connections for specific student populations. Connects with employers identified by college/department. Promotes University of Florida and the college to generate employment connections and increase career-related work experience opportunities, for example, co-ops, internships, volunteer, research, job shadowing, and part-time employment. Maintains connection with employers to assist with recruiting plans, follow up after campus events and understand employer trends, and to update them on new Career Connections Center initiatives.
College engagement: Serves as the primary career services liaison for faculty and staff within a college. Builds relationships and creates connections between stakeholders and the Career Connections Center to advance the mission of the Center. Educates faculty and staff in the college about career resources and collaborates to deliver resources to students via classroom presentations and workshops. Maintains regular communication with the college through appropriate channels and attends meetings with academic advisors, faculty members and appointed administrative contacts for the exchange of information and referrals between the college and the Career Connections Center. Communicates best practices back to the Career Connections Center about the college to educate staff on this population of students and faculty.
Career Center Initiatives: Plans and executes initiatives that align with the Career Connections Center’s strategic priorities to advance career development and experience/opportunities for students. Leads the Career Connections Center initiative on Career Services for online education. Creates goals each semester that feature strategy and programming aligned with initiative. Creates resources and programming that can be customized for different populations surrounding the special initiative. Participates in events and services held by/at the Career Connections Center that are focused on all students, employers, and campus partners. Participates in and leads committees where applicable. Collaborates with Career Connections Center staff to lead and carry out projects, events, and assignments.
Evaluation and tracking: Responsible for tracking, assessing and evaluating efforts and runs outcome reports for employer outreach, student success, engagement, and connections for relevant populations. Aids in collecting and maintaining accurate and timely quantitative and qualitative data for various types of interactions for assessment and reporting purposes to demonstrate impact. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of employment trends and appropriate career development expertise. Creates data reports after major events to showcase details and shares with appropriate audiences. Shares best practices, industry trends and college-specific information with the Career Connections Center. Communicates to faculty and staff based on data collected and industry trends to create narrative about industry and value of role.
Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor and higher authorities in the department and division. Lives out the career center’s values in all aspects of their job functions. Required Qualifications: |
Master's degree in an appropriate field and two years of experience or a bachelor's degree and four years of related experience.

EDUCATION & TRAINING: Master’s degree in marketing, social sciences, student personnel, or human resources (HR)
EXPERIENCE - Two (2) years of experience (minimum) in stakeholder engagement, marketing, sales, HR, career development, or career coaching
- Experience working inclusively with diverse populations
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of industry relations, employment trends, student development, career services, marketing, and outreach strategies
SKILLS - Skilled in computer applications - Facilitative skills - Interpersonal skills - Good presentations skills, listening skills, helping skills, relationship management, and program development
ABILITIES: Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
