Job Description:

This specialized position supports the work of the professional Extension Agent in delivering high-quality educational programming focused on 4-H youth development. The 4-H Education Training Specialist is responsible for assisting with preparation, organization of instructional materials, helping to deliver youth and adult educational programs, and aiding in of developing training tools to support learning outcomes. The role includes supporting the coordination of logistics and materials for camps, events, and marketing/outreach. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, participant data, evaluation results, and processing financial transactions related to programming. The position also provides rotating support at the front desk to ensure efficient office operations.

Program Delivery
Support facilitation and delivery of a variety of 4-H youth development programs and activities aligned with county, district, and state priorities. Help teach youth and adult audiences, using approved 4-H curricula and experiential learning strategies. Prepare and use instructional materials such as handouts, visual aids, and presentations to support effective program delivery. Provide timely responses to inquiries received via phone, email, and social media related to 4-H programming.

Program Planning & Coordination
Assist with planning, organizing, and scheduling 4-H events, trainings, and outreach activities. Help coordinate logistics for program implementation, including securing materials, locations, and guest speakers. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure programs meet local needs and follow 4-H guidelines. Represent the 4-H program at county, district, and state events as assigned.

Reporting & Data Management
Maintain accurate records of program participation, enrollment, and finances. Enter data into 4-H Online and assist with youth and volunteer registration. Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Support Affirmative Action compliance and maintain meeting documentation, event calendars, and reporting logs.

Travel & Administrative Support
Travel to support program delivery and youth participation in county, district, and state events, in accordance with 4-H policies. Assist with travel planning and documentation. Support daily office functions, special projects, and other duties as assigned by the 4-H Agent or County Extension Director.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB AND THE PERCENTAGE OF TIME SPENT ON EACH FUNCTION

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

Received: Verbal and written instructions for training purposes, program delivery, and procedural forms.  Additional instructions on an as-needed basis. Must be able to work independently and in a team. This position reports to 4-H Youth Development EA I and the County Extension Director.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

This position follows a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required at the direction of the 4-H Agent or County Extension Director to support programmatic needs.

Travel is required in accordance with 4-H Youth Development policies to support program delivery at the county, district, and state levels. This includes transporting or accompanying youth to events, competitions, and overnight educational experiences.
Overtime may be required to meet programmatic demands and will be compensated in the form of overtime compensatory leave, in accordance with UF/IFAS Extension policies.

Effective written and oral communication skills.
Skill in planning and teaching a variety of programs and events.
Knowledge of STEM subject matters and ability to teach on these topics.
Knowledge of youth risk management policies and procedures.
Knowledge of record management principles.
Ability to operate a computer and MS Office and knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Ability to analyze problems and identify solutions
Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW. 

Level 2 Background screening through DCF AHCA Clearinghouse (background check and fingerprinting required)
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.  For purposes to travel to county, district and state events and other duties assigned.
Youth protection training through UF/IFAS

OTHER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and work in a flexible or non-ideal environment. Able to travel for extended periods, up to one week at a time. Flexibility in schedule, program area and location.

POLICY MAKING AND/OR INTERPRETATION.

Work with the county agent to create, modify and/or implement county-wide program policies. Implement state and national policies.

COMMUNICATION

Daily interaction with 4-H members, parents, volunteers, and community partners to provide program updates, answer questions, and offer support.
Frequent public communication to respond to inquiries and promote program awareness.
Assist the 4-H Agent in marketing and promoting programs, events, and policies.
Effectively communicate and adapt educational strategies as needed.

MONETARY RESPONSIBILITY.

Communicate with vendors and members to track, make, and invoice payments.  Must be familiar with approved cash, check handling, and donation acceptance procedures.

Uses creativity and strategic thinking to improve programs and events, solve problems, and adapt when needed. Works collaboratively with the 4-H Agent, volunteers, parents, youth, and Association members. Coordinates with other Extension staff, including agents, program assistants, the County Extension Director, and support staff, to serve clients effectively. Supports social media, marketing, and the design of educational materials.

Expected Salary: $20-23 per hour commensurate with experience
