Job Description: |
-Installs and maintains field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments. Understands design, project setup, and project goals -Collects, records, verifies, and help analyze scientific data from experiments. The incumbent is expected to independently, following set guidelines, to make the day-to-day decisions that will best achieve overall goals or the experiments. The use of programming and simulation tools, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and other software will be required to analyze and tabulate data. -Assists with or independently prepare progress reports which document results of experiments. -Locates and purchases equipment, materials, and supplies which are necessary for field, office, and laboratory work. -Coordinates cultural operations on experimental blocks with appropriate personnel and equipment. Trains/instruct others in the use and operation of field and lab equipment, research method, or technology -Helps with specifications for outside contract works required for experiments and supervises and inspects --installations by contractors. Maintains compliance with Environmental Health and Safety and other institutions and government regulations -Operating state vehicles to collect research and date from various testing sites

$19.15/hour commensurate with education and experience |

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related life science field.
This position requires a valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications |
The incumbent in this position should have education and/or experience in water management, water quality, agricultural water and nutrient management, and drainage techniques. Understanding of soil and water sampling methods, ability to install and operate hydrologic sampling devices. The candidate should also be able to communicate data and results through oral reports and written reports, also be able to perform literature reviews. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for the position. Proficiency in the use of computer hardware and software (word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, etc.) and basic programming skills is strongly preferred. Machines and equipment commonly used in this position include: computer, apps, 3D printer, boards and electronics, dataloggers, sensors, controllers, autosamplers, multiparameter, real-time sensing systems, soil sampling equipment, and programming software. A bachelor's degree in agricultural, environmental, civil engineering, environmental sciences, or biochemistry will be preferred.
