Job Description: |
JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of Resource Sharing Assistant III is to support the department with patron access to materials by assisting with all Interlibrary Loan processes, including borrowing, lending, and document delivery. Duties include working with patrons across campus for UBorrow and Interlibrary Loans (ILL). Process requests; searching databases; resolving borrowing issues; tracking items in ALMA Fulfillment and Resource Sharing modules. Providing general customer services. This position maintains a primary responsibility in processing UBorrow materials DOCLINE and ILL borrowing requests.
BORROWING
- Performs borrowing functions in ILLiad
- Uses a variety of services to fill requests, including RAPID, DOCLINE, Open Access, etc.
- Searches a variety of bibliographic databases, especially WorldCat, to verify and locate cited material.
- Performs UBorrow borrowing activities, use ALMA fulfillment and Resource Sharing modules.
- Process DOCLINE requests, use National Library of Medicine platform.
- Assists in processing material in shipping systems
- Stays informed on current professional resource sharing topics related to copyright, Interlibrary Loan policies, updates, systems/software changes, and workflows.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Monitor and response phone calls and ILL borrowing emails
- Handles all incoming queries from library partners, institutions, faculty, staff and patrons.
- Respectfully and skillfully handle all communication from library partners, institutions, faculty, staff and patrons
- Provides assistance in the use of the ILLiad interlibrary loan system to all users
- Stays aware of department needs and priorities
- Routes issues and problems as appropriate; Maintains active communication with
Access and Resources Sharing Manager regarding issues which need further consideration
LENDING
- Assists in the lending functions of the ILL unit.
- Performs key ILLiad functions including request renewal, status updates, and electronic request fulfillment through mail/fax/Odyssey.
- Contacts branch libraries via phone or e-mail regarding loans of materials.
- Processes material in ALMA Fulfillment module.
- Performs UBorrow lending activities and shipping tasks related to all lending material
DOCUMENT DELIVERY
- Assists with the daily processing of Interlibrary Loan requests for all UF affiliates.
- Processes material in ALMA circulation system
- Searches a variety of bibliographic records to verify citations and locate material.
- Scans and uploads electronic and hard copy articles,
- Communicates and reinforces ILL policies
OTHER DUTIES
- Stays current in ILL processes and best practices.
- Assists other ILL staff members with their primary tasks in lending, document delivery and shipping operations as dictated by workload and staffing.
- Participates in library committees, initiatives and cross-divisional development opportunities.
- Submits Facility, IT, or other tickets to address issues as needed

Expected Salary: |
$17.23/hr minimum hourly rate; The Smathers Libraries offer a salary commensurate with experience and credentials.

Required Qualifications: |

- Familiarity of and ability to function with the Libraries online catalog
