Job Description: |
The Agricultural and Biological Engineering department is seeking an Education/Training Specialist with a focus on agriculture related business and finance coordination and teaching. This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training programs for the Florida Inmate Workforce Initiative. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing support to the Florida AgrAbility Program (FAP), a collaborative project between the University of Florida (UF) and the Center for Independent Living of North Central Florida (CILNCF). This position will be expected to coordinate with state and local government organizations, agricultural businesses, UF Extension, community-based organizations, and health care providers.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
- Collaborates with faculty and other subject matter experts on program development, design, and delivery of agriculture related business and finance curriculum.
- Work with the project team to track the progress of work plans within the established budget.
- Proactively manage training status reporting and communications regarding ongoing changes in training scope and document risks, actions, issues, and decisions.
- Participate in outreach and networking activities throughout the state of Florida’s farming and agricultural community to help raise awareness about the program and to identify people eligible to receive support from the Florida AgrAbility services.
- Leverage agriculture related business and finance knowledge to provide service coordination between state and local government organizations, agricultural businesses, UF Extension, community-based organizations, and health care providers.

Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: |
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:
- Experience in traditional and non-traditional classroom instruction using multiple modalities.
- Comfortable working in correctional facilities and meeting Department of Corrections training and certification requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and implementation skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication for risk analysis, proposal development, and facilitating change.
- Expertise in curriculum development and instructional design, creating engaging educational resources.
- Skilled in market research, competitive analysis, and identifying industry opportunities and threats.
- Proven ability to develop and track work plans, ensuring high-quality project deliverables within scope, timeline, and budget.
- Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with state and local governments, agricultural businesses, UF/IFAS Extension faculty, community organizations, health care providers, and Florida Department of Corrections personnel.
- Self-motivated, accountable, and capable of working independently.
- Holds an advanced business degree (MBA, Master’s in Entrepreneurship, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area, or a bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in business tools (e.g., QuickBooks, CRM, project management software).
- Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) or similar certification preferred.
