This position is open to all students eligible to work on campus and have a valid Federal Work-Study (FWS) permit. Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed part-time, up to 12 hours per week. Must have a Federal Work Study work award for Fall 2025 semester.

  • Knowledge and background in working with one or more social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube 
  • Basic graphic design experience 
  • Videography and video editing experience

Job Description:

The University of Florida Dean of Students Office (DSO) is seeking a Federal Work Study Outreach & Marketing student assistant for a part-time marketing and social media position. The student assistant will report to the Assistant Director, Outreach and Strategic Initiatives, and, in collaboration with the DSO units and Outreach and Marketing student assistants, help to develop and manage the campaigns, content, and graphics for the DSO’s social media and other media channel modalities. 

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, comfortable with tight deadlines, research information for posts and projects independently, works on multiple campaigns at once, and brainstorms content ideas independently and in collaboration with the various areas within the department. The candidate must also be a creative problem-solver, well-organized, and strong communicator. 

Potential projects include but are not limited to: 
1. Writing and editing social media posts focused on students, students’ families, faculty, staff, and alumni. 
2. Creating graphics for the department’s social media channels, digital signage, and websites. 
3. Photographing and recording Department events and creating reels or other social media content. 

4. Interviewing subjects for social posts or videos where needed. 
5. Collaborating with the DSO and campus partners to facilitate and enhance social media campaigns. 

6. Monitoring and evaluating social media channels for impressions and assessing messaging impact and effectiveness. 

7. Assisting with overall marketing initiatives. 

 

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and students must adhere to an agreed-upon schedule that does not conflict with their course schedule. This position is only open to enrolled students. A minimum stay is one semester, 8-10 hours weekly, but longer stays are available and encouraged. 

Expected Salary:

$14.00/Hr.

Required Qualifications:

6. Ability to manage multiple tasks,  

7. Ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines
