UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry-level IT Infrastructure Technician to join Infrastructure & Communication Technology (ICT), Facilities and Operations, a unit within UFIT.

As part of ICT, this position supports and maintains moderately complex network systems. As part of the Data Center and Logistics team, they will troubleshoot, assist with the moves, add, and changes in the data center environment. Experience in troubleshooting network connection issues is key for the ability to support our networking infrastructure across campus. This position will plan and arrange projects, support, and maintain moderately complex network systems, and training responsibilities within the team. Additionally, this position will coordinate and facilitate receiving efforts with our IT Warehouse team, performing barcode scans of deliveries at the IT Warehouse or equipment prepared for issue by IT Warehouse Staff.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
- Installation and Maintenance of Servers & Associated Copper and Fiber Infrastructure – Utilizing tools such as WireXpert, Link runner, and other appropriate tools and technologies
- Data Center and UFIT Asset Management Maintenance - As part of daily rounds, inspect generator sound enclosures, verify fuel level, inspect for fuel or coolant leaks, inspect battery chargers, inspect block heater operation, local audible alarms, and general readiness to operate. Air Handler inspections during daily rounds require operating the manufacturer’s touch display located approximately 61 inches above the floor. Occasionally, may need to perform electrical connections overhead (156 inches above the floor) via Starline busway tap installation, relocation, or removal utilizing a stair 82-inch platform safety ladder
- Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation, ranging from network diagrams to other procedural or process documentation. Review and verify Wiki content is correct and current as of the review date
- Procurement and Asset Lifecycle Management – Obtain as many vendor quotes as necessary to comply with UF Regulations. Provide said quotes to customers

Benefits
Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for 10n paid holidays each year.
Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close during the December holiday closing when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.
