Job Description: 

The Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented OPS Research Education and Communications Manager. This role will support a range of research administration duties, technical writing, and strategic communications, with a particular focus on research education initiatives, research-related communications, and project management activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply skills in research support, science communication, and higher education within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities Include: 

Develop and edit technical research program materials, including reviewing and becoming familiar with project-specific online research collaboration tools and platforms; interviewing project personnel and prospective users to elicit use cases, user needs, and questions; and developing onboarding and operating procedure documents.

Prepare educational materials. Write, edit, and maintain training materials, including drafting and editing learning objectives, video scripts, and knowledge-check questions; ensuring adherence of materials to UF usability and accessibility standards; and uploading materials to Teams, MediaSite, and Canvas platforms.

Prepare progress reports. Draft and edit progress reports and presentations using Word, PowerPoint, and cloud collaboration tools, including developing and monitoring reporting deadlines based on award contracts; collecting input from project collaborators; developing or maintaining required report formatting; and maintaining records within the UF and project-specific cloud storage platforms.

Assist with evidence synthesis. Support evidence synthesis projects, including working with UF librarians to develop literature search strings; drafting, editing, and registering review protocols; conducting systematic searches using academic literature databases; setting up systematic review projects in Covidence; onboarding student assistants to literature review projects; developing standard figures, tables, and appendices; and setting up and monitoring timelines for review project progress.

Facilitate the submission of academic manuscripts, including coordinating manuscript drafting and revision among co-authors; editing tables and figures according to style guidelines; maintaining shared reference library; proofreading final manuscripts; reviewing and editing manuscripts to conform to journal editorial style and submission requirements; maintaining manuscript log; and processing of manuscripts through journal submission sites.

Assist with grant proposal development, including developing and adapting boilerplate language; writing descriptions of UF and open science research resources; writing summaries of prior research; maintaining references; developing figures and tables; editing drafts of grammar and coherence; facilitating communication with collaborators; and drafting letters of support.

Attend and coordinate project meetings related to educational, technical, evidence synthesis, and manuscript development tasks described above. Supervise undergraduate students and interns working on relevant educational and evidence-synthesis projects. 

Expected Salary

$25.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in public health, health sciences, communications, education, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, particularly in technical or research-related content. Excellent project coordination and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage time, and successfully manage multiple priorities.

This is a part-time position at 20-30 hours per week. Hours may be flexible within the week but are expected to happen between normal business hours of Monday–Friday between 8AM and 5PM.
