A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Description:

The Research Assistant will support cancer screening and survivorship programs by conducting interviews, facilitating focus groups, and analyzing qualitative data. They will engage with healthcare professionals, manage participant communication, and contribute to research papers while also providing research support and ensuring ethical data collection. The Research Assistant will collaborate with research teams, maintain regulatory documents, and report study progress to investigators while adhering to all relevant compliance and quality control procedures.

Qualitative Data Collection:

Conduct interviews with healthcare professionals, patients, and stakeholders, facilitate focus groups, and ensure ethical data collection

Recruitment & Coordination:

Engage clinics, schedule interviews, and manage participant communication

Data Management:

Organize transcripts, assist in coding, and maintain confidentiality

Report Writing:

Draft summaries, contributions to research papers, and support data analysis

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with research teams and maintain participant communication

Administrative Support:

Assist with participant scheduling, tracking, and documentation

Expected Salary:

 $16.75 - $22.00

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
  • Background or interest in one of the following: behavioral medicine, health communication, qualitative research, mixed methods research, public health
  • Understanding of patient population to create rapport and a relationship, while also giving insight to what is realistic and appropriate for patient participation
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Knowledge of UF and departmental policies for dealing with reimbursement, guidelines for research, confidentiality and Health Information and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, following the UF mission statement and purpose for research, and a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, guidelines for packing/shipping infectious substances, database building/analysis, and data management within some of the following: Access, Stata, SASS/ SPSS, and Teleform programming platforms
  • Passion for health science research, particularly behavioral medicine and public health
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • Experience engaging healthcare providers and patients
