Job Description:

Position Summary: The Marketing Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the marketing and communications efforts of the UF | Florida Semiconductor Institute. This position involves assisting with content creation, event logistics, and digital marketing. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to balance multiple tasks while supporting various marketing and event initiatives. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the UF | Florida Semiconductor Institute’s marketing and events efforts while gaining valuable experience in the field of communications and event support. This is a part-time position with a flexible work schedule and the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Support

Provide comprehensive support for events, trade shows, conferences, and workshops, including logistics, setup, and breakdown.

Assist in organizing and maintaining event materials (name badges, signage, promotional items).

Coordinate event registration materials such as attendee lists and check-in materials.

Ensure smooth event operations by acting as an on-site point of contact for speakers, panelists, and guests.

Assist with catering, ordering materials, and packaging and shipping event-related items.

Support virtual and hybrid events to ensure a seamless experience for participants.

Contribute to post-event follow-up, including survey distribution and content recaps.

Support customer communication and logistics via email and telephone for event coordination, trade shows, and mailings.

Communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and other departments as necessary.

Content Creation & Management:

Assist in the creation of promotional communications for print and digital media to achieve marketing objectives.

Develop and maintain content for websites, social media platforms, newsletters, and other marketing channels.

Assist in brainstorming, scheduling, and creating content, including social media campaigns.

Create email newsletters for internal contacts and marketing emails for external audiences.

Track social media analytics and assist with reporting to inform new strategies and content creation.

Ensure all content is aligned with UF branding policies and meets compliance standards.

Website Support:

Assist in updating and maintaining the institute's website and ensuring content is accurate and up to date.

Monitor content on the website for compliance with UF policies and branding.

Help with design tasks using tools like Adobe Creative Suite (preferred).

Work Environment:

Part-time position requiring a commitment of 20 hours per week.

Flexible work hours between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Hybrid work flexibility available.

Expected Salary:

$15.00 per hour or higher, based on experience.

Minimum Requirements:

1-2 years of experience in marketing, communications, event planning, or a related field (internships or volunteer experience may be considered).

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.

Familiarity with social media platforms, website management, and basic digital marketing tools.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with content management systems, email marketing tools, and graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).

Experience in the higher education, technology, or scientific/technical communication sectors.

Familiarity with event planning and coordination, especially in a higher education or research context.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate across diverse teams.

Working towards degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, or a related field.
