Biological Scientist I

Conduct research experiments focused on LTAR network common experiments located at the center and at Archbold Biological Station (Buck Island Ranch); driving to and from Buck Island Ranch may be necessary.  Specific duties include following set guidelines and protocols, maintaining research plots and field equipment, collecting and preparing of plant, soil, and gas samples, and conducting sample analysis.

Monitor eddy covariance towers associated with the LTAR common experiments at the center.  This will include weekly maintenance, troubleshooting, data downloading, and assisting immediate supervisor in ensuring operation and evaluating data QA/QC.  Must be able to prepare the towers for tropical disturbances.

Responsible for upkeep of laboratory, storage, and field equipment, including cleaning and organizing repairs as needed.  Undertake the ordering and purchasing of supplies and equipment under supervision as needed, for all projects including research, extension and graduate student projects.

Maintain excellent records of all research activities.  Responsible for entering data into excel spreadsheets in an organized matter.

Assist other programs at the Range Cattle REC including research and outreach projects.

Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field.

Experience in working with eddy covariance towers.
