This position works closely with faculty, extenders, fellows and residents to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and provide education on correct coding and proper documentation to maximize reimbursement. This is a remote position upon completion of a successful on-site training/probationary period.

This evening position is responsible for triaging, accessioning, and troubleshooting all incoming specimens received at UF Health Pathology Laboratories. Duties include: accessioning all types of Clinical Pathology specimens including but not limited to; blood, serum, saliva, sputum, viral transport media, culture swabs, etc. Assigning each specimen a number and labeling materials accordingly, collecting and placing test orders, verifying billing codes, forwarding medical reports to physicians/institutions, maintaining files, verifying appropriate materials received for each test, and coordinating specimens to be sent to outside laboratories. Other duties include testing coordination, preparing result reports and distributing the reports.

The incumbent has substantial managerial responsibility, utilizes a broad range of skills, and exercises considerable judgment and initiative. He/she works in concert with the Executive Director of Finance and Administration and the department chair(s) to align the department’s financial and administrative procedures, and University of Florida objectives by establishing systems to ensure innovative, flexible, productive, accountable, compliant, and collaborative fiscal and support services. The Director has the authority to review and assess the financial impact of the hiring of all unit faculty and staff positions to ensure adequate funding.
