Student Assistant, Bike Mechanic - Student Government

A student assistant is needed as a Bike Repair Mechanic for Student Government to work 10-20 hours a week The employer is looking for a customer service oriented, professional, and detail oriented person to aid in the daily operations of SG Bike Repair. Individuals with prior experience as a mechanic or working with bicycles preferred.

Specific Responsibilities

• Assist in opening and closing the Bike Repair shop.
• Assemble, inspect, maintain, and perform routine repairs on customers’ bicycles.
• Assess customer needs and confirm service and repairs meet those needs.
• Assist with maintaining equipment and ensuring a clean, secure and safe work environment.
• Various other duties as assigned.

• University of Florida Student
• Fine attention to detail, professionalism, dependability and effective communication skills
• Ability to work as a team member
• Prior customer service skills are preferred
• Demonstrated communication, organizational and leadership skills
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Self-starter; self-motivated; timely

• This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

• Prior customer service skills are preferred
• Bicycle maintenance experience
