Job Summary:
The Office of the Vice President for Student Life seeks an outgoing and student assistant to join the department as an Office Assistant. Student-employees who hold this position often serve as a first point of contact for the public, guests, prospective and incoming students and VPSL faculty & staff. Your ability to anticipate needs, exercise discretion and confidentiality, and effectively prioritize tasks will be crucial in this role. Federal work study preferred but not required.
Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist visitors, staff, and faculty with questions or concerns
- Answer and direct calls, addressing inquiries and messages appropriately and accurately.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the office suite.
- Assist staff with a variety of administrative needs including event preparation, emailing, errands, and other tasks as requested.
- Review/sign for packages, sort incoming mail, assist in processing outgoing mail.
- Proactively seek administrative support projects; assist staff with day-to-day responsibilities: filing, scanning, shredding, data entry, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by department.

Expected Salary: |
$13.00 per hour
|
Minimum Requirements |
- Must be available to work Monday & Friday, 8am – 12pm or 1pm – 5pm. (shifts may vary).
- Be available to work during the 2025 summer break.
- Must be a current University of Florida registered for at least half time, in good standing with at least a 2.0+ GPA
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to professionalism, dependability, and timeliness.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Be available to work during the 2025 summer break.
- Demonstrate professional etiquette in the office, on the phone, and in person.
- Must be available to work Monday & Friday, 8am – 12pm or 1pm – 5pm. (shifts may vary).
- Ability to critically analyze situations and actively problem solve
- Ability to work well within a team and build positive relationships
- Demonstrated dependability, attention to detail, timeliness, and professionalism
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written communication)
