Job Description: |
Perform maintenance service and repair work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft
occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in
repair. Duties may involve plumbing; pipe fitting; insulating; carpentry; painting; plastering; machine
servicing; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new
equipment; repairing buildings, floors, or stairs; or vehicle servicing.
Assist with the maintenances of Laboratory infrastructure
• Repair machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices • Diagnose plumbing issues related to general piping. • Maintain or repair specialized equipment or machinery located throughout the grounds of Whitney Lab • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment • Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions • Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures • Perform general cleaning duties of buildings or properties that include Whitney housing. Also event set up that includes tables and chair setup or as assigned.
Equipment use and maintenance of laboratory watercraft and vehicles
• Operate UF vehicles • Maintaining of laboratory boats, including launching, trailering, and driving of watercraft. • Basic auto maintenance including oil changes, fixing tire flats, and mechanic duties.
Maintaining of facilities and other
• Provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping, mowing, string trimming, hedging

Preferred Qualifications: |
Knowledge of: installing and maintaining electric motor, generators, heating equipment, and related electrical and mechanical equipment, grounds keeping equipment and vehicles. Maintaining valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers and other sanitary fixtures. Familiar with a variety of brick, concrete, carpentry and fiberglass.
