Job Description:

The Animation Specialist is responsible for creating and producing high-quality animation and multimedia content for learning and marketing materials. This role combines creativity with technical expertise, leading animation projects from concept to completion while overseeing video production and editing. The Animation Specialist will collaborate closely with instructional designers, communication teams, and web development professionals to develop compelling, engaging assets that effectively communicate key messages. Additionally, the role includes hands-on production responsibilities, managing on-site and off-site filming, directing shoots, and ensuring technical quality across all media produced. The role has been created to support the development of educational materials for the Quality and Patient Safety Initiative. As the role evolves, the Animation Specialist will continue to contribute to the development of immersive learning experiences, exploring emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, app development, and other forms of interactive media. This position is time-limited and soft-funded.45%

Animation

  • Design and create engaging, high-quality animations that enhance e-learning modules, promotional content, and instructional materials using AI technologies when appropriate. This involves leveraging AI tools to conceptualize innovative visuals, automate routine animation tasks, and create adaptive learning content that can change based on user interactions. Develop storyboards and animate graphics to ensure dynamic and educational user experiences, integrating AI to analyze user data and refine animations for personalized learning pathways. This proactive use of AI accelerates production timelines and elevates the creative potential of animation projects.

Post-production/Editing

  • Perform detailed post-production tasks including color grading, audio mixing, and enhancing footage to improve the aesthetic and functional quality of video content. Responsibilities also encompass compositing sequences, refining motion graphics, and optimizing media for seamless performance across various platforms. Collaborate with graphic designers and instructional designers to ensure the visuals effectively convey the educational content.

Production

  • Lead and manage on-site filming operations, including setting up and operating camera and lighting equipment. Oversee the assembly and dismantling of sets and ensure high technical quality in all media production. Direct shoots to capture required footage while adhering to project specifications and creative direction.

Coordination

  • Coordinate project timelines, allocate resources, and manage deliverables for multiple multimedia projects. Ensure projects are executed efficiently and align with organizational goals. Work closely with different departments and clients to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of E-Learning, Technology, and Communications (College of Education); the Executive Director of UF’s Quality and Patient Safety Initiative (College of Medicine); the Director of Operations and Strategy of UF’s Quality and Patient Safety Initiative (College of Medicine); and the Production Manager (College of Education).

Hours can be flexible with advance notice and dependent upon project deadlines

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; or an associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates should have superior interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, superior oral and written communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced business environment and ability to work proactively to provide wide-range of project support.

Knowledge and proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premier Pro, Audition, Associated Plugin for Animation, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Artificial Intelligence Tools for Production.
