Job Description:

Clery Act Compliance Program Administration:

  • Assist the AD in maintaining oversight of Clery Act compliance program, serving as a high-level check to ensure that daily and annual requirements are completed in a compliant manner;
  • Serve as one of the university’s subject matter experts for Clery Act compliance;
  • Assist the AD in implementing and oversee the university’s Clery Act compliance program, including the provisions of VAWA and the Stop Campus Hazing Act;
  • Assist the AD in overseeing the university’s Drug-Free School and Communities Act compliance program;
  • Assist the AD in drafting policies, procedures, and guidance related to Clery Act compliance;
  • Collaborate with compliance partners, including the University Athletic Association, UF IFAS, police and security departments, Student Affairs, Housing, Title IX, the Office of the General Counsel, Real Estate and other key stakeholders to ensure compliance with Clery Act requirements;
  • Ensure that Emergency Notification and Timely Warning policies and message requirements are met at all Clery Act geographical locations;
  • Assist the AD in maintaining all applicable Clery Act files during record retention schedule, as defined by the Clery Act.

Campus Security Authorities:

  • Along with UF Human Resources, assist the AD in designating and notifying all UF Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) of their designation as mandatory reporters under the Clery Act on an annual basis;
  • Ensure that all UF CSAs complete training on an annual basis, as required by the Clery Act;
  • Update CSA training video as needed/ensure accuracy of all information contained in training;
  • Liaise with UF Human Resources to ensure that annual training records are maintained;
  • Serve as the deputy point-of-contact for all University of Florida CSAs;
  • May conduct additional, supplemental CSA training for departments or units as needed.

Clery Act Geography/Separate Campuses:

  • Serve as the deputy point-of-contact and oversight resource for all UF Clery Act geography, to include all ‘separate campus’ locations as defined by the Clery Act;
  • Assist the AD in designating, training, and working closely with Clery Campus Liaisons at each separate campus location;
  • Collaborate with UF Office of Real Estate to ensure Clery Act geography is current and accurate;
  • Assist the AD in creating and maintaining Clery Act geographical maps;
  • Continually assess and designate locations as the nature of locations changes or the university creates new Clery Act separate campus locations;
  • As new separate campus locations are designated, ensure all independent Clery Act requirements are implemented and maintained.

Annual Security/Fire Safety Reports:

  • Assist the AD in preparing and issuing the university’s Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report by October 1 of each year, as required under the Clery Act;
  • Along with Clery Act campus partners, review all required statements of policy annually and ensure accuracy prior to publication;
  • Assist the AD in crafting and publicizing the annual notice of availability message upon publication of the reports;
  • Assist the AD in ensuring all statistical data included in reports is accurate;
  • Once reports are published to the public annually, Assist the AD in reporting data separately to the U.S. Department of Education;
  • Collaborate with members of Clery Act compliance committee to provide information, feedback and review prior to publication of reports.

Training and Outreach:

  • Develop and provide training on the Clery Compliance program to campus partners
  • Provide in-person Campus Security Authority training to campus partners
  • Coordinate and collaborate with campus partners for various outreach efforts during awareness months (Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Stalking, Campus Safety, etc)

Subject-Matter Expertise and Other Duties:

  • Continually monitor the regulatory landscape within Clery Act compliance as well as higher education compliance and ethics and continuously expand subject-matter expertise;
  • Apprise leadership and make appropriate institutional policy changes/recommendations as laws, policy guidance or enforcement of the Clery Act or other institutional compliance areas change;
  • Participate in relevant compliance and ethics organizations, including attending meetings and conferences, participating in work groups, engaging in speaking opportunities, or performing other related activities;
  • Evaluate emerging compliance trends and make recommendations to the AD for implementing best practices to support the continuous improvement of the university’s program; and
  • All other duties as assigned by the AD or Director.
 
Expected Salary:

$70,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience. Certified Clery Compliance Officer (CCCO) or Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or certification within 2 years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Clery Compliance Officer (CCCO) from the National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals (NACCOP) or completed the advanced Clery Act or comparable training
  • Depending on specialty, experience, or interest this position may focus on Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act and the Stop Campus Hazing Act legislation
  • Depending on specialty, experience, or interest this position may focus on the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) provisions of the Clery Act, including the university’s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and oversight of the Title IX Compliance implementation of VAWA
  • Previous experience with or knowledge of laws and regulations associated with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, such as the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act and Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972
  • Compliance or legal experience within an institution of higher education or an academic medical center;
  • Strong organizational, communication, strategic planning, and project management skills;
  • Extensive knowledge of compliance principles, terminology, and regulatory requirements that impact universities and academic medical centers;
  • A proven record of excellence in customer service, integrity, teamwork, and collaboration;
  • Ability to translate complex legal requirements into understandable and meaningful terms within the context of higher education;
  • Prior experience in audit or investigations; and
  • Computing skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and basic website maintenance.
