The role involves collaborating on plumbing and electrical preventive maintenance work orders for all UF/IFAS-owned buildings and greenhouses, contributing to projects and new construction, diagnosing malfunctions, and ensuring equipment functionality. Travel to job sites using state vehicles is required. Responsibilities include supporting electricians with repairs and replacements of circuits, breaker panels, receptacles, motors, light fixtures, switches, and more, as well as digging and trenching when necessary. The role also addresses minor electrical issues, such as replacing wall switches, outlets, and lighting fixtures.
Plumbing duties include repairs and replacements like fixing irrigation systems, water lines, faucets, toilets, and clearing stoppages. It also involves assisting plumbers with more complex repairs, including water piping, drain lines, water heaters, pumps, lift stations, backflow preventers, and irrigation systems. Sewer cleaning, jetting, and related digging and trenching are also included.
Additional responsibilities include executing State Fire Maintenance PMs, repairing emergency lights, exit lights, and security lights, and supporting other trades such as carpentry, painting, HVAC maintenance, and groundskeeping. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and repair work and performing additional duties as assigned, such as operating heavy equipment.
