Job Description:
  • Network and Computer Maintenance: Responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of network systems and computer hardware, including VOIP communication hardware. Serve as a liaison among TREC and UF/IFAS IT personnel, UF Network Service, and UF Software Services.

  • User Account & File Rights Management: Maintain and update user accounts and file access management for TREC staff, faculty, and students. Manage access to file server drives, network printers, fax machines, and scanners. Create and maintain TREC e-mail lists, and monitor use of graduate student, visiting scientist, and intern computers.

  • IT Infrastructure Development & Project Leadership: Identify IT needs and provide leadership in the development of infrastructure projects. Oversee multimedia technology projects, providing strategic advice on their implementation. Ensure compliance with University, college, and departmental security and configuration policies. Participate in departmental strategic planning and provide recommendations for upgrades to meet wired and wireless requirements. Interface with vendors and contractors.

  • Audio Visual Support: Set up and maintain audio-visual equipment for meetings, events, and conferences. Assist faculty with the recording and delivery of distance-based education modules.

  • Software Management: Install and maintain all required software on faculty and staff computers, ensuring compatibility and compliance with operating systems. Track and renew software licenses as needed.

  • Device Purchases & Security Compliance: Manage computer and mobile device purchases, ensuring compliance with University security policies. Maintain a list of mobile devices and monitor them for compliance with University mobile device security policies.

  • Inventory Property Contact: Assist fiscal staff in maintaining an accurate asset database, including annual inventory of capital and attractive assets. Oversee protection against asset loss, damage, or theft, and ensure proper disposal of electronic equipment by destroying sensitive data.

  • Web Support  Assist TREC’s Marketing and Communications Team with the maintenance and updates of the Center’s web pages and social media accounts. Ensure functionality of servers and browsers for email, downloads, and news transmission. Stay current with changes in web standards that may affect website performance.

Expected Salary:

$55,000 commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in network and computer troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Experience in user account management, file rights, and software management.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, multimedia technology, and related projects.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Ability to interface with vendors and contractors and manage IT projects.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between work sites to support faculty, staff, and student needs.

Experience supporting one or more of the following technologies:

  • Microsoft Windows 11
  • Microsoft Office365 applications and services, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
  • Account and group management in an Active Directory environment
  • MacOS X

Basic knowledge of the one or more of the following technologies:

  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
  • Microsoft Windows Server
  • TCP/IP Networking
  •  DNS
  • DHCP
  • VPN
