Working with the Education and General (E&G) Employee Relations Office, the position coordinates all aspects of employee relations functions for a group of nine colleges and administrative units. Duties include performing a consulting role for HR Liaisons regarding employee situations to include the implementation of discipline, best practices in employee/supervisor relations, dissemination of information regarding policies, regulations, and processes regarding the general employment of employees throughout the areas of responsibility assigned. Interprets and ensures compliance with university regulations and university policies. Provides guidance and coaching to supervisors and managers on human resource issues to include, but not limited to, performance management, employee disciplinary actions, layoffs, leave issues, and employee relations in the workplace. Creates and maintains documents associated with employment actions. This position reports to the Associate Director of Employee Relations and assists with managing a comprehensive employee relations program for faculty and staff issues.
Advises employees on informal methods for resolving conflict with supervisors and coworkers. Knowledgeable with the formal HR complaint and grievance processes.
Supports UF Engaged, the staff performance management program. Is proactive in supporting partners to foster the development and growth of a performance-based culture, including, but not limited to providing consultation on performance management issues, and working to create a culture of feedback and accountability. Provides the guidance and coaching necessary to effectively build leadership skills in managing workforce interactions among managers. Is proactive in identifying workforce engagement opportunities to improve and enhance the working environment and leadership capabilities throughout the University.
Assists departments with probationary employee actions, including probationary check-ins, extensions, and probationary dismissals. Follows up with HR liaisons after probation actions occur to determine appropriate measures to support the probationary process.
Provides backup support for the Workers Compensation Program and Commercial Motor Vehicle Program.
